Character development... gone wrong!

I went to see DOLPHIN TALE over the weekend with my 7 year old daughter. She LOVED it... it's her favorite movie (until she sees another one).

I thought it was okay... I was hoping for better. The problem, at least for me, was in two of the main characters. Both of these characters changed in a way I never saw coming and I couldn't find believable. And this really put me off. I know it's hard making a character's development seem plausible in a 300 page novel... doing it in a 2 hour movie even harder. But these two changed in ways that seemed totally obtuse. That's right... obtuse.

Nightly Visitor

I've been living in the same house for nearly 18 years now... and this is the first summer that I've ever seen a frog like this little guy. Every night, he crawls up the siding just outside the garage door to the light and eats all the bugs attracted by the glow. The frog in the picture is about two inches long, but last night we found a baby, about a 1/2 inch long. Both were a very cool camouflage green.

I Am Made of You

I'm sure many of you aren't the biggest Alice Cooper fans... but this song - I AM MADE OF YOU - from his new album WELCOME 2 MY NIGHTMARE (the sequel to his WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE album released back in 1975) is pretty eerie and cool.

It's got an ONLY WOMEN BLEED feel to it... not heavy or hard, but something more gothic or Victorian. Give it a listen and let me know what you think... I just LOVE it.

The Silhouettes

I stopped watching America's Got Talent a month ago - or so it seems... but the show is still going on! I caught a bit of Monday night's episode and was really impressed by The Silhouettes:

Cool Stuff About the Moon

"We all know the moon's not made out of green cheese, but if it were made out of barbecue spare ribs... would you eat it then?"

Seriously... NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter sent back some recent picture of the Apollo moon landings... pretty cool stuff.

The paths left by astronauts Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell on both Apollo 14 moon walks are visible in this LRO image. (At the end of the second moon walk, Shepard famously hit two golf balls.) The descent stage of the lunar module Antares is also visible.

If you want to see more of this and a video... go here...
